Giant Rat Trap Accident Simple How To Control Rodents ─ leokimvideo

How to capture rats and rodents the simple way. A giant rat was accidentally captured in a large plastic tub filled with rain water. This reminded me of the most simple rat trap that kills rats easily. If there is one rat around there is sure to be others so I set up a pivoting plank with a food bait on the end. Some methods use rollers that unbalance the rat when it tries to feed. I have had many times when either a rat or mouse decides to feed in the home. There is a huge industry connected to rodent control, there are humane and non humane traps. There is also chemical poison baits but I'm not a fan of this style of control. Who knows where the rodent ends up dying and the baits may be eaten by other animals. The most difficult to capture and control are small house mice. The only traps I have had success with are the plastic clam style traps but sadly I have captures lizards and geckos with them as well. The best thing to happen is two cats now reside at our house and they seem to clean up all the rodents. The signs of rat and mouse activity have really dropped off. This video was shot back in the 2016 Australian Winter so that's just prior to the Redback Spider invasion. The Tonka toys you see at the start of this video are now a proving ground for spider control using WD40.

Rats are various medium-sized, long-tailed rodents of the superfamily Muroidea. "True rats" are members of the genus Rattus, the most important of which to humans are the black rat, Rattus rattus, and the brown rat, Rattus norvegicus. Many members of other rodent genera and families are also referred to as rats, and share many characteristics with true rats. Rats are typically distinguished from mice by their size. Generally, when someone discovers a large muroid rodent, its common name includes the term rat, while if it is smaller, the name includes the term mouse. The muroid family is broad and complex, and the common terms rat and mouse are not taxonomically specific. Scientifically, the terms are not confined to members of the Rattus and Mus genera, for example, the pack rat and cotton mouse.
