The YouTube #Adpocolypse of advertisers pulling ad's from YouTube can be linked back to a stupid change Google did in 2012. This change in policy created many new channels that made all sorts of different content, some of this content was not what advertisers wanted to be associated with. There was 5 years of Partner For All madness before the advertisers started to look more carefully where their money was being spent. In this video I show how I have been affected by the dreaded yellow dollar signs and how a YouTube friend called Beanmeister22 came up with a simple solution to trigger a video review when my videos were failing the 1000 views a month for review. I also speak about the relationship between the viewers, creators advertisers and Google. This relationship needs to stay balanced for everyone to be happy. But sadly with the advertisers becoming far more selective with their ad campaigns it's created unrest with the creators. The Machine Learning processes that Google have used to filter videos on the site for the advertisers has worked more like a sledgehammer. It's generated endless amounts of false flags.
YouTube Partner Program overview, On April 18, 2017, we implemented a new review process for all channels applying to join the YouTube Partner Program. Get more information on the review process and eligibility requirements below. All YouTube creators can apply to join as long as the Partner program is available in your country. Once a channel reaches 10,000 public channel views, it will be reviewed to join the Partner program. But sadly this change in policy was too late. The damage was done many advertisers had left the site.
