Rats Catch And Release Traps Behaviour & Infestation Study EDUCATIONAL VIDEO ─ leokimvideo

During the Winter of 2019 we had a rat infestation that was getting out of control. It had been very dry and warm and from the Arlo security cameras I had in the garden I could see the rat army was being very active. Rats and Rodents are very smart animals. They quickly learn and adjust to trap methods and baits. Via the video captured by the Arlo cameras I could see their behaviour patterns and how they moved around various traps. I could also see the adult rats were the most cautious and the most difficult to trap. Sure we have many cats that frequent the garden at night but these smart rats adult will stand up to cats and defend their territory. I have even seen rats attempt to assist a trapped partner, so often this happens between two male rats it's amazing to witness. The industry of rodent control is layered with many style of solutions and sadly many are not very effective. Even to set up a catch & release trap you need to use the right lure and set that up in a way to stop the rats from stripping it clean. Rats almost seem to understand every trick in the book. I think what I have learned is you have to keep morphing your methods, trick the rats because once they are spooked about a lure or trap they tend to know to avoid it. Amd maybe the scariest thing I witnessed was a rat thats was the size of the rat cage, and there is zero chance I can fool such a grand sized rat. In having to deal with this big rat infestation I have a real appreciation of how clever these animals are. They will test you until breaking point. And once you disrupt the rat family enough they will decide to leave. That is until the next season of rats decide your place is a new perfect place to live.
