This is my third video looking at toys stolen in store. Thomas The Tank, Disney Cars and Lego are the usual suspects in being stolen but the new Fortnite toys were by far the toys being stolen on mass. The Fortnite Loot Chest and Loot Lama's were easy pickings for those wanting to grab free Fortnite toys. The price point of these toys was set very high and this didn't help the problem. But what really made the problem worse was how easy it was to open a Fortnite Loot Chest and Loot Lama. Many department stores left broken open toys on the shelves and this only created a bigger problem. All to often I see Thomas The Tank toys missing. The plastic display area on top of the box is too easy to open and the toys are not secured to the box. Lego has problems and it usually involves Lego Minifigures. Especially any that are included with books and set up as exclusive. When Toys R Us closed I did a study of the final 3 days looking carefully at what sold easily and what couldn't sell. The last days were also a time when professional shoplifters were operating. Lego also has a huge problem with these professionals who use very sneaky methods to steal Lego from stores. Many of these methods are similar to what magicians use to make things disappear. It's the art of distraction and misdirection but it's all criminal activity. Some stores I go to have employed extra loss prevention staff, but when children are involved there is very little they can do. Remember shoplifting is a crime.
