A look over Thomas And Friends toy stock. I revisit ALDI to see how the Thomas Wood sold there and watched how their specials clearance pricing works to sell ALL the wooden toy train sets. I check out the return shopping trolley area to explain that system in total. Considering it's the lead up to Christmas I look at how the Thomas toys are presented in store and I notice lots of empty pegs and empty shelves appearing. I also see what Thomas characters do not sell, but why don't they sell? ALDI sometimes have Thomas Trackmaster playsets and the real eye opener for me was how the Trackmaster Sky High Bridge Jump set failed to sell. Even at a heavily discounted price these large playsets wouldn't move. But seeing the Thomas Wood toy trains collapse in price and set at clearance prices says to me this toy is in real danger. I just do not see it selling off the pegs in the many stores I frequently visit. Has the drift away from the classic Thomas Wooden Railway proving to be an epic fail for Mattel?
